A new Windows™ based software update of its full range of video editing products, including all Multibridge, DeckLink and Intensity models. This new Blackmagic Design version 7.0 software update adds support for Adobe Creative Suite™ 4. This is a major software update, and is available today from the Blackmagic Design web site at no charge. The Multibridge Eclipse by Blackmagic Design is an external chassis that connects to your computer via PCIe (PCI Express), the same card working for either PCs or Macs. You can capture and playback via SDI, HD-SDI, HDMI, or Component video.
I recently bought a MacPro with Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and tried to make my Multibridge Extreme run which I used before just as a stand alone converter and a decklink PCIx card in my old PowerMac G5. I installed the latest driver I found (9.6.9) and after installation I was asked to update the firmware of the Multibridge. Updating failed.
I tried some older versions, some other v.9, some v.8, some v.7 and at last v.6 from the legacy archive. Either the firmware update failed or the version was for PPC and nothing happened after installation of the driver.
(I uninstalled every version before I installed the next.) Does someone has a hint for me how to make this work. Any suggestions appreciated. (I could go back to 10.5 or 10.6 if this would help even if I wouldn't like this solution very much.) Cheers, Harry.
I made the Multibridge Extreme work with 10.5.8. I used the Driver Multibridge 6.6.
But this isn't a good option because my CS6 will not run on 10.5. It's really strange since BMD offers the Desktop Video 9.6.9 driver as the first choice when you go click support, choose Mac OS X, then Multibridge as Product Series, check Include Legacy and then choose Multibridge Extreme.
When they don't support it anymore they shouldn't offer these choices. Well, I still hope I'm doing something wrong, and somebody will give me a hint what. Since version 8 BMD calls the driver Video Desktop, not Multibridge anymore. Might be this the moment they dropped the Extreme version or changed something else? If this has something to say: My machine is an Intel MacPro from January 2008, so it's a 3,1 model.
I installed the Multibridge card in slot 4. Still in the dark. Cheers, Harry.
